Ode to St. Nick (Colobro)
"?Twas the night of the Big Game, when all through the town
Everyone was hustlin' and bustlin' around.
The banners were hung by Sir Philip with care
In hopes that St. Nick soon would be there.
The Vikings were fired up, chomping at their bits,
waiting for the Devils, who are really mere imps.
When out on the field there arose such a clatter,
Sir Phil sprang from the field house to see to the matter.
The moon on the sea of Devil blue in the stands,
Brought a smile to Phil's lips as he clapped his hands.
When what to his wondering eyes did he see for himself?
But a football coach and his little blue elves.
Just an ol' ball coach, neither lively nor quick,
Phil knew in a moment it must be St. Nick.
As the PA called out the players by name,
Everyone settled in to watch the big game.
Run Cedric, throw Cedric, and now run Myron.
Catch Malcom, catch Lawson, the footballs were flyin'.
The scoreboard lit up like a fire from hell,
Then the Devils knew the Vikes had set sail.
Then the Vikes D started to fly,
The little Blue Devils started to cry,
Into the endzone the Vikings they flew,
And Ol' Nick became a little more BLUE.
In the blink of the eye, the Vikes had scored 30,
Even though they had barely gotten their uniforms dirty.
Shortly the band erupted with sound,
As the Vikes added 14 more on the ground.
Still the Devils were mired in the mud,
As the Vikes defense broke bones and drew blood.
Three times in a row, Anderson was thrown on his back,
Twice for no gain and once for a sack.
The GC fans started whining and crying,
It nearly flooded the field from the tears that were flying.
Mercifully the devils made it to the half,
And PV fans in their wading boots started to laugh.
No rahs or hurrahs for they Devils but lordy,
They escaped with their lives but still were down forty.
Ol Nick was wondering just what to do,
Cuz recently vs. PV his wins had been few.
The Devils limped out of their haltime meeting,
Only to endure a severe second half beating.
The players were wanting to come off the field,
From all of the carnage, you'd thought someone was killed.
Final score: Vikes 44, Blue Imps 14.
A similar end to a familiar scene.
The Blue Imps left, to return to great city,
a terrible beat down, lord what a pity.
St. Nick exclaimed, as he rode out of sight,
"Sir Phil has taught me another lesson tonight!"?
